Competency-based curriculum, rubrics & assessment

Build learning around what students can actually do.

DPCLiK is a competency-based teaching workspace for building standards-aligned rubrics, organizing them into courses, connecting each proficiency level to instructional materials, and designing next-generation assessment around real evidence of learning.

One connected workspace

From standards to instruction to evidence.

The current DPCLiK prototype connects the pieces teachers normally manage in separate places. A rubric can carry standards, competency alignment, proficiency descriptors, performance indicators, sample evidence, instructional materials, and assessment signals — then be organized into the courses where it is taught.

01 · RUBRIC LIBRARY

Build once. Reuse and adapt.

DPCLiK uses structured .clik files that can live in a shared General Library or a teacher’s personal library. Open a rubric to view, print, export, or adapt it.

02 · COURSE DESIGN

Map rubrics into real courses.

Start from a recommended mapping or create a course from scratch, add a description, and choose the rubrics that belong in it.

03 · STANDARDS ALIGNMENT

Keep the target visible.

The prototype currently aligns CCSS, NGSS, and California Social Studies standards to DiplomaPlus competencies and lets educators include or exclude child standards across the rubric.

04 · PROFICIENCY PROGRESSION

Describe growth, not just points.

Learning is organized across Emerging, Capable, Bridging, Proficient, and Metacognitive levels, with Bloom’s levels, verbs, descriptors, indicators, and sample evidence.

05 · INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

Connect the rubric to what students do.

Each proficiency level can include ready-to-use activities, materials, teacher notes, printable handouts, and independent/async plus classroom-day delivery plans.

06 · NEXT-GEN ASSESSMENT

Design around evidence of learning.

Assessment signals identify the modality, competency being demonstrated, evidence artifact, feedback cadence, and named badge associated with each level.

Next-generation assessment

More than one score from one day.

DPCLiK’s current assessment model is designed around continuous evidence, academic content and durable competencies together, feedback students can act on, and evidence-backed competency signals.

1
Continuous evidence

Define evidence at checkpoints throughout a unit rather than relying only on a single end-of-unit event.

2
Content + competency

Use the same student work to represent academic knowledge and what the student can explain, analyze, evaluate, or create.

3
Actionable feedback cadence

Specify peer checks, teacher conferences, self-checks, seminars, or other feedback while students still have time to improve.

4
Evidence-backed badges

Associate each proficiency level with a named badge and the evidence artifact that supports it.
